A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault caused the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
